People depend on public services; services depend on people to deliver them.
Municipal workers touch every part of life: they fix roads, provide clean drinking water, connect us with library resources, run ice rinks, work at daycares, lead community workshops, look after our garbage and much more. We are facing tough economic times and that’s when we need affordable, reliable public services most.

How to get involved
We all have busy lives, which makes it challenging for local unions to engage members. Here’s how you can get more involved with the local and help us help you.
Attend Monthly Membership Meetings
The monthly general membership meetings review executive business, the local’s finances, updates on campaigns and initiatives in workplaces, and more. The meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month (excepting July, August and December) at 6:30pm at the CUPE National Office.
Vote in the elections
Have your say in who runs our local. Attend the General Membership Meeting in November and vote for the people you want to represent you in the coming year.
Become a Steward or Site Rep
Stewards and Site Reps are our eyes and ears in the workplace. They are often the first contact members have with the union when seeking information or for any concerns in the work place. Many of our sites/departments do not have any reps in place. Please speak to one of the Executive committee if you might be interested. The Local provides training to help keep you informed and work with both members and management.
Run for an Executive Position
You can help shape this local to be the best it can be for our members.
